Major Allegations Faced by Hinduism -2

Do read my last article Allegations Faced by Hinduism-1 before reading this article. This  article is actually the extension of first part. So, we were discussing the major allegations that were posed by others, in resolving the first allegation we came to know that Hinduism follows monotheism in a pluralistic way.

In this article we will be dealing with the next allegations viz. idol worshiping and Caste System. Idol worshiping is one of the most prominent feature of Hinduism. But let me clear some misconceptions about it. In fact every other religion has some sacred symbols that they treat as holy. Similarly Hinduism also have different kinds of sacred symbols incorporated according to individuals belief.

But for now lets focus on Hinduism, if you recall my previous article you may know that the god is present in each and every particle of the universe. Since god is present in every particle, every particle becomes a part of god. Taking this conception the idols are made.
Hinduism consist of two sects- nirgun and shagun brahm. The idol worshiping is common practice in shagun type of believers. They believe in the form of the ultimate god. But you must remember they both are same.

Now about the allegation, people may come and ask me like, synectron, how could you worship a marble or a stone? But do we really worship the marble or stone? The answer is big "NO". No we do  not worship marble or stone or anything. Have you ever heard someone visiting temple and praying "Oh! marble I worship you"? We do recall the supreme authority with having a medium of that particular stone or marble. That is why Hinduism allows anything to worshiped because each and every time the marble/stone or anything is used,it just acts as a symbol, but the true prayer is submitted to the ultimate authority.
Symbols are very necessary even the 100% valid Mathematics have symbols for specific task. For eg. If I say you add 2 and 3, you will say 5 and would instantly write it down 2+3=5. You have the knowledge of it so you wont require even to write it but what about a naive student who  hasn't that knowledge. You have to take and explain each symbols first and then you will do the addition, he/she will understood easily and perfectly. Now suppose you don't tell him/her about any symbols, he/she will fail to understand and ultimately the goal of operation will fail. Similarly, the idols are necessary to act as a medium to submit yourself to the ultimate god and thus fulfilling the goal of operation. Plus it will also increase your concentration towards your praying.

Even every other religion does idol worshiping , the difference is that we do it knowingly and they do it unknowingly. In Christianity, the holy cross symbolizes the religion of christian, the star and crescent is the best-known symbol used to represent Islam. David star is the best known religious symbol of the Jewish faith, etc Similarly Hinduism has also some sacred symbols(or idols as they are type of symbols) that are being used to concentrate ones faith.
Now why so much different types idols? Why not few types? I'm taking example of Christianity, god is considered to be the father of heaven, one of the girl or even boy stand up and may ask why not mother? Why only father, I would like to pray to mother(in terms of female), why not the god be called as mother? This is where the liberty is given by Hinduism, you like to worship the ultimate god in female form , no problem, worship Goddess Durga.

What is idol worshiping? Just to form a figure of your belief and submit yourself to the ultimate god. Christian calls god as "Father"- even this is also a form of idol worshiping. Idols don't mean only marble/stone scriptures, it means a form of god that you believe.
Even mathematics have symbol of Infinity. So, I don't think there is any kind of problem in idol worshiping. I would like to end this article with a quote, but before I do it, please do like it, get subscribed and share it as much as possible. Next allegation will be resolved in my next article.
"We do it knowingly, others do it unknowingly"
"Jai Shree Ram"
